Active Voice and Internet Subscribers Show Growth in Q3 2023

According to recent data, the total number of active voice subscribers in Q3 2023 reached 221,769,883, marking a growth rate of 4.51% compared to the 212,201,578 reported in Q3 2022. Quarter-on-quarter, there was a 0.76% increase. Similarly, the total number of active internet subscribers in Q3 2023 stood at 160,171,125, showing a growth rate of 4.83% from the 152,784,980 reported in Q3 2022. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, there was a 0.42% rise.

Analyzing the state profiles, Lagos state claimed the highest number of active voice subscribers in Q3 2023, boasting 27,043,333 subscribers. It was followed by Ogun with 13,136,247 subscribers and Kano with 12,192,122 subscribers. Conversely, Bayelsa recorded the lowest number with 1,558,509 subscribers, trailed by Gombe and Yobe with 2,643,899 and 2,760,261 subscribers, respectively.

In terms of active internet subscribers, Lagos state once again led the pack with 19,188,745 subscribers in Q3 2023. Ogun followed closely with 9,538,622 subscribers, while Kano secured the third position with 8,712,782 subscribers. On the other hand, Bayelsa had the lowest number of active internet subscribers with 1,195,580, followed by Zamfara and Gombe with 1,863,686 and 1,909,498 subscribers, respectively. Notably, MTN emerged as the service provider with the highest share of subscriptions in Q3 2023.

These figures indicate positive growth in both voice and internet subscriptions, with Lagos state being the frontrunner in terms of subscriber numbers.
