The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for admissions into public universities for the 2025 academic year to November 17, 2025. This decision was made to address recent challenges faced by several universities, ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the admissions process. JAMB emphasized the importance of allowing all institutions to complete their admission procedures without unnecessary pressure.
Originally, the deadline was set for October 31, 2025, but factors such as court orders that affected the admission lists prompted this extension. The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, aimed to synchronize the admissions of various educational institutions, including private universities and polytechnics, by setting a timeline for all to follow. JAMB has urged institutions to finalize their admissions promptly to maintain a smooth academic calendar.
The board expressed gratitude to all universities for their cooperation so far and reiterated that this new deadline is final. JAMB remains committed to a transparent and credible admissions process that aligns with Nigeria’s educational goals while ensuring that all eligible candidates have access to opportunities in higher education.
