NCC Prioritizes Consumer Interest, Temporarily Stops MTN’s Disconnection of Glo
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that the planned disconnection of Globacom Limited (Glo) by MTN Nigerian Communications Plc. (MTN) has been put on hold.
In a statement signed by Reuben Mouka, the Director of Public Affairs, NCC stated that the disconnection was scheduled due to a long-standing interconnection debt dispute between the two parties. The NCC, aware of the potential impact on consumers, facilitated discussions between MTN and Glo to reach a resolution. As a result, the disconnection has been suspended for a period of 21 days.
However, the NCC emphasizes that interconnect debts must be settled by all telecom operators to comply with regulatory obligations.
