Facebook recently hosted its first-ever Facebook Lounge at the Lagos Fashion Week 2025, celebrating creativity and community among young designers, fashion enthusiasts, and content creators. The three-day event featured interactive sessions, live interviews, and activities that demonstrated how Facebook tools like Marketplace, Reels, and Groups can help Nigerian creators build their communities and turn their passions into opportunities.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted that Facebook is a leading platform for cultural conversations in Nigeria. She noted that fashion has become the largest category on Facebook Marketplace in the country, with young adults increasingly using the platform to explore new interests and express their creativity. The event included engaging discussions hosted by well-known media personalities, providing insights into how creators can leverage Facebook tools effectively.
The Facebook Lounge aimed to empower attendees by showcasing local innovations and fostering connections. Guests enjoyed various activities, including photo sessions and games, and could create short videos at the Reels Booth, capturing the vibrant energy of Lagos Fashion Week. Facebook reiterated its commitment to supporting creators and ensuring that they have the tools needed to thrive in the digital landscape.
