The Lagos State Government has kicked off the process of integrating the National Identification Number (NIN) with the Lagos State Single Social Register (LASSR). This initiative is designed to boost the effectiveness of social protection programs in the state, following the directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, highlighted how crucial it is to link the NIN in order to fully harness the potential of LASSR. This integration is set to enhance the targeting of social support for vulnerable households.
During a recent event called “Unified for Impact,” stakeholders from different sectors were briefed on the advantages of this integration. The forum aimed to promote collaboration and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.
The integration officially kicked off on April 9, 2025, across all 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
