Dr. Lakinbofa Goodluck, a Public Relations Manager at MTN Nigeria, recently spoke at a panel discussion about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media industry. He emphasized that AI should be viewed as an enabler of creativity rather than a replacement for human input. During the event, which focused on the ethical use of AI, Dr. Goodluck highlighted the importance of integrating AI responsibly to enhance productivity and innovation in various sectors.
He explained that while AI technologies can improve processes and efficiency, they cannot replicate the depth of human creativity, empathy, and originality. Dr. Goodluck compared AI to a personal assistant that was once only available to the wealthy but is now accessible to everyone. He stressed that rather than fearing AI, individuals and organizations should embrace it while maintaining a critical human touch in storytelling and creative endeavors.
Dr. Goodluck also called for increased AI literacy among media professionals. He urged media organizations to adopt clear guidelines for the ethical use of AI, ensuring transparency about how AI tools are utilized in content creation. He believes that with responsible governance, AI can help strengthen the media landscape while preserving the essential qualities that make communication impactful and trustworthy.
