The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially launched an AI-powered business registration portal, marking a significant advancement in Nigeria’s efforts to facilitate business operations. The announcement was made by Malam Hussaini Magaji, the registrar-general of the CAC, during the 2025 Stakeholders Forum in Port Harcourt.
This new portal is a complete overhaul of the previous Company Registration Portal (CRP) and includes advanced features aimed at simplifying and speeding up the business registration process. Key innovations of the platform include:
Instant Name Reservations: The system allows for immediate approval of business name reservations, making the process as easy as creating an email account.
NIN-Based Registration: Users can register a business using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor.
Quick Turnaround: The goal is to complete business registration and certificate generation within 30 minutes, contingent on real-time validation of the NIN.
Malam Magaji emphasized that this initiative represents a major milestone in enhancing the integrity and efficiency of business registration in Nigeria.
