The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to intensify efforts against individuals vandalizing the country’s Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). This initiative includes collaborating with security agencies to arrest and prosecute offenders.
Auwal Abdullahi, head of Quality of Service at the NCC, highlighted this commitment during a media engagement in Abuja. The announcement follows the signing of the “Designation and Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure Order, 2024” by President Bola Tinubu, aimed at safeguarding essential digital and communication systems.
Abdullahi noted that past vandalism incidents have led to significant financial losses for telecom operators, impacting service quality. The NCC expects renewed investments in the telecom sector, with a focus on improving network quality.
