The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) is set to transition to a digital licensing regime for logistics companies beginning in the second quarter of 2025. This move aims to streamline the licensing process, allowing applicants to track their license status and obtain digital certificates. The initiative was announced by Postmaster-General Ms. Tola Odeyemi during a stakeholder forum focused on enhancing e-commerce through integrated digital and physical infrastructure.
This digital shift will enable logistics companies to manage their licensing more efficiently while also providing the option for physical licenses if needed. The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, emphasized the importance of integrating NIPOST’s extensive network of over 1,000 post offices into digital platforms to enhance logistics capabilities across Nigeria.
The initiative seeks to address logistical challenges, particularly in underserved areas, and to boost the e-commerce ecosystem by making operations more accessible for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This digital licensing is part of broader efforts to improve logistical infrastructure and support the growth of e-commerce in Nigeria.
