Record-breaking NIN Enrollment Surpasses 104 Million – NIMC
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has reported that the enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN) has reached a total of 104.16 million
Based on recent data, the statistics indicate that there were 10.3 million people who enrolled in the National Identification Number (NIN) system in 2023, whereas the total enrollment in December 2022 was 94.03 million.
In terms of the gender breakdown of the enrollees, data from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) shows that 59.12 million individuals, accounting for 56.8 percent of Nigerians in the NIN database thus far, are male. On the other hand, 45.04 million individuals, comprising 43.2 percent of the total enrollees, are female.
These findings have emerged alongside the recent announcement by mobile network operators of a deadline for linking Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) to the NIN, which is set for February 28, 2024.
Nevertheless, the current figures for NIN enrollment are still far from Nigeria’s target of 148 million, as set by the World Bank for June 2024.
